Not just at annual review time, all the time.After I have a new representative for about 90 days, I print off the competencies I think they excel in, and those I think they need work on. Have them read them (underused, competent, and overused) and make their own KPIs for the coming quarter, half year, whatever.They're invested in their development along the way and they become aware of what they need to improve upon to be at minimally competent and what they need to exploit.

I work for Apple and they base their training on these 63 competencies. They would not lest us take the information home, since they have the rights to use it in their computers and I pads for training, so I found the book. It is the best book I have bought for working at any business! I mean, if Apple uses it.... Pricey, but Definitely worth the money!
